Elena, Stefan and Damon (Ian Somerhalder) work with Mikael and Damon wants to make sure that no one will interfere to ruin their plan. Damon lets Mikael bite Stefan so he will be unconscious while Elena stabs Rebekah with the dagger so they will be sure that none of them will tell Klaus what they are planning.
Nikolaus Mikaelson is an Witch-Vampire Hybrid. He is the son of Marcellus Mikaelson and Rebekah Mikaelson.
After a thousand years at Klaus' side, Rebekah eventually left New Orleans to pursue her own life, but later returned briefly and was charged with the protection of Klaus' daughter, Hope.

But in its seventh season, the show delivered its biggest change from its established mythology when, suddenly, Caroline (Candice King) became pregnant via a magical transfer. Even though she was a vampire, she was somehow carrying Alaric (Matthew Davis) and Jo's (Jodi Lyn O'Keefe) twins.
However, when Klaus made his first human kill after being turned into a vampire, he triggered his werewolf gene, which turned him into a the world's first hybrid and revealed that he was the illegitimate child of the Alpha of the same pack whose member was guilty of killing Esther and Mikael's son, Henrik.
Sophie Deveraux explained that Klaus was only able to procreate due to being the Original hybrid; he was a born werewolf, turned into a vampire by magic, as opposed to transitioning by vampire blood.
So back in her own body, Esther comes up with this plan for how to kill off her children and the entire vampire species. She decides to turn Alaric, while he's really his evil alter ego, into a vampire.
Rebekah, enraged and desolate, decides to kill Alaric by killing Elena and causes them to drive off a bridge. Alaric dies in Damon's arms after Elena drowns, but appears to Jeremy as a ghost to say goodbye.
